If you want to visit a seaport city in Russia, you should see Taganrog in Rostov. It is on the north shore of Taganrog Bay, some distance west of Don River which is one of the major Russian rivers. As for the Sea of Azov, during the times of Classical Antiquity, it is Lake Maeotis. A narrow strait of about four kilometers linked it to the Black Sea. This strait is called the Strait of Kerch. Bounded by Anatolia, Europe and the Caucasus is the 2.2km deep Black Sea. It is well-known how many international and Russian aristocrats, artists and politicians are from Taganrog. Either they were scientists who were born and had lived here, for example, Faina Ranevskaya a tragedy and comedy Russian actress of the 1890s, Anton Chekhov the Russian author and physician, Sophia Yakovlevna Parnok the poet and sister of Valentin Parnakh, Dmitri Sinodi-Popov and Alexandre Koyre. Others include emperors such as Alexander I of Russia and Peter I of Russia. Giuseppe Garibaldi, Cornelius Cruys, Konstantin Paustovsky, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Achilles Alferaki, Nestor Kukolnik, Sergei Bondarcuk and Ioannis Varvakis.

In Russia’s Far East, is the culture center of Kamchatka Krai. It has a population of about 180,000. This is a city with tourist infrastructure as you can have activities like bear hunting, paragliding etc. You cannot find any road leading the Kamchatka Peninsula to the rest of the world and it is also expensive to get there. However, it is promising to enjoy a great scenery for the entire peninsula. One way for sure you can get there by flights to the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Airport. The climate here is the subarctic type or boreal climate. You may experiences long and cold winters, short and cool mild summers. In the area, the Kamchatka Peninsula lies between the Sea of Okhotsk and the Pacific Ocean. There is a 10kilometer deep Kuril-Kamchatka Trench. This is no ordinary trench as it is an oceanic trench that meets the east of Hokkaido, the Japan Trench. Here you can also expect intense volcanism.

The Crimean War monuments at the Kamchatka State Unified Museum is one of the must see. Other than the historic center with the most walkable part of the Petropavlovsk, you can visit the Institute of Volcanology, the Zavoiko where you can chill at the black-sand beach, a nice relaxing place to spot sea birds and puffins or the type of auk.
