Murmansk is one of the biggest cities in Russia and it is located in a very northern part of the country. It is the center of the region and the largest settlement in the north of the Arctic Circle.

Musmansk is a port city and had a significant role in the Second World War and after the end of it as well. Regional Art and Craft Museum

At  the address S. Perovskoj no. 2, you will discover the Regional Art and Craft Museum in Murmansk. The institution is the most visited museum in the whole region and contains over 30 exhibitions that presents the life, customs and crafts of the people in the region from ancient times until today.

The museum was founded in the 19th century by the Art and Culture Commission of the city region. From year to year, many craftsmen gather here from all parts of the city and expose their goods for sale. The 30 exhibitions of the Regional Art and Craft Museum in Murmansk were added one by one every year and include: I’ll be famous, Tapestry Exhibition, Painting Exhibition, Embroidery and Knitting Exhibition , Customs of the city, Tools and Utensils, Crafts Exhibition and many others

The museum is opened from Monday to Friday between 10.00 – 17:00 and on weekends from 10.00 – 18:00. The entry is free.

The Museum of Regional Studies in Murmansk

The Museum of Regional Studies in Murmansk dates back from 1926 and is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in the entire region. It was founded by the city municipality.

If you are interested of the life and history of the inhabitants of Russia, you can see many interesting exhibits. The museum has five rooms, each of them representing a period of time and presents local life and the customs of that period. Among the most interesting exhibits of the Museum of Regional Studies in Murmansk are: hundreds of years old Russian furniture, popular and traditional clothes of the locals, a collection of coins, tools and utensils, an exhibition of trades that were practiced in the region and many works of art by Russian artists.

The ticket price is 100 rubles for adults, several different categories of persons benefiting from discounts. The museum is opened daily from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..

The Krayevyedchesky Museum of Murmansk

At Lenin street no. 90 in Murmansk you will find the largest museum of the region, the Krayevyedchesky Museum. This is an institution that presents the history of the city and the domination of the Anglo-Americans. To get here, you should take the trolleybus No. 3 or 6.

The Krayevyedchesky Museum of Murmansk was opened in 1926. Its interior has seventeen exhibition halls, including rooms as the Barents Sea Life and the Nature of the Murmansk Region. In the exhibition halls you can see archeological objects, household items, the political sphere of the city and the surrounding region, and at the main entrance you will find the first icebreaker in the world, Ermak, placed on a pedestal.

The Krayevyedchesky Museum is opened between 11:00 – 18.00. The price of a ticket is 10 euros, about 450 rubles.
